What an amazing day in the beeyard! We inspected Esther, Sunny, Miriel and Bronwyn. All are doing well except Bronwyn (still no queen). We fully intended to start pulling honey frames today. We tested the 3 large hives, and they still have a bit to much moisture for extracting. It might be a few more weeks before we have honey. However, were totally surprised to find queens in the same 3 hives, since they were all queenless 3 weeks ago. We'd like to introduce you to Summer. We are still trying to come up with names for the other 2 queens and we think we need a new name for the Bronwyn hive (since they can't seem to keep a queen).

Well, we've done it! We split 2 of our overwintered hives! We are now an Apiary of 7 hives. 🙂 We will need to name the splits once they raise up a new queen. We are open to suggestions. We are looking for names that are strong of character and powerful.
